What's a Rapid Prototyping Machine?



While blogging on Subtractive Prototyping Machines, I did a youtube search on this - I couldnt find any Subtractive machines that work by taking away, but here's one that helps you make models on the fly by building up layers. Hell yeah, it's what they call a 3D printer.

What you see above is actual footage of the printing in action and it looks very awesome indeed. I sure hope these things don't become dynamic enough to take over the job of sculptors.

i can only image this would reduce the number of people that sculpt by hand, and at the same time the number of creators and creations could change drasticly with 3d modelers. much like people that still use film in their camras with so many amazing SLR's out there.
